Step outside and into the natural world—ready to see, frame, and capture! This outdoor photo field trip will train your eye and spark your creativity. Learn how to observe your environment like a photographer, compose dynamic shots using natural light, and create a mini nature photo story. You'll walk, explore, shoot, and reflect—all in one immersive outdoor experience. These workshops are geared toward beginner / intermediate- level photographers, but all are welcome to enroll. Any type of capture device may be used including cell phone, point and shoot, mirrorless and DSLR cameras. Hiking: Expect between 2 and 4 miles of walking on trails at a photographer's pace: slow and with extended breaks! Ages: 15 and up. Participants under 18 must attend with a registered adult. Transportation: Optional transportation is available from Leavenworth to Lake Wenatchee in our van. Drive time will not include instruction.

Vanessa Weiland is a board certified Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner and Menopause Society Certified Practitioner with over 10 years of experience caring for patients experiencing perimenopause, menopause, and other hormonal health concerns. Heidi Bard is a yoga instructor who offers yoga workshops and retreats to help women manage the physical and psychological symptoms of the menopausal years and reframe menopause as a time of growth and renewal.

Join us for a special event with local author Kristin Joy Wilks as she reads from her newest early chapter book, "Phooey Kerflooey vs. The Deep, Deep Dark! Recommended ages: K-4th grades Phooey Kerflooey vs. The Deep, Deep Dark Phooey Kerflooey may be a 34-pound Newfoundland, but she is still a puppy - and she is afraid of the dark. When the power goes out at Camp Castle Pine after a night of scary stories, the world is blanketed in darkness, and Phooey is pretty sure that evil is coming for her and her boys. Will she be able to battle the Evil Electrician and fix the generator before it's too late? Storytelling / Acting Workshop The reading will be followed by a short interactive storytelling workshop where kids will rewrite part of the book and act out each other's works. Based on Vivian Gussin Paley's approach to literacy development that honors the natural storyteller, listener, and actor in every young child.

Participating in this year's Make a Difference Day with WRI. We will be working in the E. Lorene Young Community Garden for this year's project. For the last two Make a Difference Days, WRI has worked with dedicated volunteers to dismantle and replace old planter boxes and replace them with new cedar ones built onsite. Now, there are only 12 boxes left to replace, and we need your help to finish this project! These new boxes will serve community members for the next decade of fruit, vegetable, herb, and flower growing. This is a family friendly volunteer event! WRI will have the materials and hand tools available for the work. We hope for 10 volunteers to come! The more the merrier. RSVP appreciated but not required.

The LWSC ski team will also have a booth that you can donate any of your items to to be sold that will directly benefit the LWSC Nordic and Alpine teams.

Possible projects include working with library staff to: - Plan library programs for teens - Curate book displays - Assist with social media - Write book or media reviews - Design a literacy-based project for the greater community Why join? - To build leadership skills - To earn community service hours, which is beneficial for - college applications and job resumes - To get to know other teens and library staff in your community - To help make the library a better place for teens - To have a positive impact on our community Meetings are on the first Thursdays of the month from October to March (except Jan 1), with the last meeting on April 9th. Location will alternate between Leavenworth and Peshastin Library.
