WRI Workday
That December storm gave it its best shot, but now it’s our turn to continue the job! One good outcome to the lack of snow, is we're able to continue this work. We’re turning storm debris into wood chips and giving our riverfront trails the spa day they deserve. Come hang out, get your hands a little dirty, and help us reclaim the campus! We’ve got two shifts for twice the fun: The Early Bird Special: 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM The Afternoon Hustle: 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM We'll split into groups: some will help with the wood chipping and others can help pick up the litter the river waters moved through the waterfront. We provide the gloves (please bring ear protection if you have it); you provide the muscle (and the banter). Let’s get chipping! Before you head over: To make check-in a breeze, please RSVP and [fill out our volunteer waiver](https://bit.ly/2026VolunteerWaiver) at the link below before you arrive. It’s quick, easy, and gets you to the fun parts faster!

Ms. Holmes & Ms. Watson - Apt 2B
This irreverent and darkly comic take on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s famous detective duo is brought to you by playwright Kate Hamill — known for her whip-smart, feminist reimagining's of literary classics. In this highly theatrical, small-cast escapade, oddball female roommates Sherlock (yes, it’s also a girl’s name—wait, is it a girl’s name? Is it even a name?) Holmes and Joan Watson join forces to emerge from the pandemic fog as a deeply codependent, quasi-dysfunctional Odd Couple adventure duo. Together they solve mysteries, kick butts, and occasionally process their feelings — until they come face-to-face with a villain who seems to have all the answers. This production is directed by Phil Lacey and McKenzie Baird, the directorial duo behind Pride & Prejudice at ICCA. It marks the first official production from their newly formed company, Rogue Assembly, produced in collaboration with Icicle Creek Center for the Arts. Expect sharp wit, theatrical hijinks, and a healthy dose of chaos — all in the spirit of Kate Hamill’s signature, high-energy storytelling.

This month's book: The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison. Pick up a copy in January from the library to be prepared for the meeting! Join us for curious and respectful conversations about books that have been banned or challenged across the decades. We'll discuss why the books have been banned, what we think about them, and what they have to tell us about the time in which they were banned and their relevance today. What you need to know: - Meetings will take place on the second Saturday of the month, January through May, 10-11am. - No long-term commitment required! Just sign up for the books you are interested in reading. - Register and stop by the library during the month prior for your copy of the book.
