Step outside and into the natural world—ready to see, frame, and capture! This outdoor photo field trip will train your eye and spark your creativity. Learn how to observe your environment like a photographer, compose dynamic shots using natural light, and create a mini nature photo story. You'll walk, explore, shoot, and reflect—all in one immersive outdoor experience. These workshops are geared toward beginner / intermediate- level photographers, but all are welcome to enroll. Any type of capture device may be used including cell phone, point and shoot, mirrorless and DSLR cameras. Hiking: Expect between 2 and 4 miles of walking on trails at a photographer's pace: slow and with extended breaks! Ages: 15 and up. Participants under 18 must attend with a registered adult. Transportation: Optional transportation is available from Leavenworth to Lake Wenatchee in our van. Drive time will not include instruction.

Astronomy by the River

Join the Wenatchee Valley Astronomy Club on a family friendly journey through space. Using a variety of telescopes, we’ll gaze up into the Milky Way and learn about some of the best night sky objects to view. During this program we’ll also explore the basics of telescope use, the different types of telescopes, and some helpful tricks to enhance your experience in star gazing.

Sunset + S'mores

Come gather with us at WRI for an evening of food and s'more fun! Jump into fall with us as the evening light fades and the stars come out. Join us for a meal, drinks, and immersive activities. Socialize with fellow WRI supporters, board members, staff, and students. This is a family friendly event. The evening's offerings will take place throughout WRI's campus, both indoors and outdoors. We look forward to gathering together and celebrating our special community!

Fall Fungi Field Trip

Join Wenatchee River Institute and Puget Sound Mycological Society for our Fall Fungi Field Trip! The day will begin at the Wenatchee River Institute with a meeting to set the scene and provide a safety briefing. PSMS guides will take groups of people out to different locations for fungi foraging and collection followed by identification and a group potluck.

Beaded Earrings Workshop
