Tristan und Isolde

Sat · 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM

The Met: Live in HD, streamed from the Metropolitan Opera in New York City to the Snowy Owl screen. After years of anticipation, a truly unmissable event arrives as the electrifying Lise Davidsen tackles one of the ultimate roles for dramatic soprano: the Irish princess Isolde in Wagner’s transcendent meditation on love and death. Heroic tenor Michael Spyres stars opposite Davidsen as the love-drunk Tristan. The momentous occasion also marks the advent of a new, Met-debut staging by Yuval Sharon—hailed by The New York Times as “the most visionary opera director of his generation” and the first American to direct an opera at the famed Wagner festival in Bayreuth—as well as Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin’s first time leading Tristan und Isolde at the Met. Mezzo-soprano Ekaterina Gubanova reprises her signature portrayal of Brangäne, alongside bass-baritone Tomasz Konieczny, who sings Kurwenal after celebrated Met appearances in Wagner’s Der Fliegende Holländer and Ring cycle. Bass-baritone Ryan Speedo Green makes an important role debut as King Marke.

El Último Sueño de Frida y Diego

Sat · 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM

American composer Gabriela Lena Frank makes her Met debut with her first opera, a magical-realist portrait of Mexico’s painterly power couple Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera, with libretto by Pulitzer Prize–winning playwright Nilo Cruz. Fashioned as a reversal of the Orpheus and Euridice myth, the story depicts Frida, sung by leading mezzo-soprano Isabel Leonard, leaving the underworld on the Day of the Dead and reuniting with Diego, portrayed by baritone Carlos Álvarez. The famously feuding pair briefly relive their tumultuous love, embracing both the passion and the pain before bidding the land of the living a final farewell. Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducts the Met premiere of Frank’s opera, a “confident, richly imagined score” (The New Yorker) that “bursts with color and fresh individuality” (Los Angeles Times). The vibrant new production, taking enthusiastic inspiration from Frida and Diego’s paintings, is directed and choreographed by Deborah Colker, following her remarkable 2024 debut staging of Ainadamar. The Met: Live in HD, streamed from the Metropolitan Opera in New York City to the Snowy Owl screen.

National Guitar: The Music of Paul Simon with the Jenner Fox Band

Sat · 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM

[National Guitar](https://www.nationalguitarband.com) features Pacific Northwest all stars musicians from Polecat, Gregory Alan Isakov, Petty or Not, and the [Jenner Fox Band](https://jennerfox.com/). They first dreamed up a Paul Simon Tribute on a 250-mile bicycle-powered tour of their original music, when they discovered a shared reverence for Simon’s work. That spark became National Guitar—a five-piece ensemble with decades of arranging and touring experience. Their set spans Simon’s career, from Garfunkel to Graceland and everywhere in between, breathing new life into his beloved catalog and lifting audiences to their feet to sing, groove, and celebrate a true American original. The evening begins with a short set of the [Jenner Fox Band](https://jennerfox.com/)’s critically acclaimed originals. Known for his poignant and humorous storytelling, “Jenner combines the lyricism of Joni Mitchell and the commentary of Neil Young to represent the next generation of singer-songwriters” (Grammy-nominated producer Cookie Marenco). The band’s debut LP, Anything (released May 9), earned high praise: “There’s a quiet magic in the way they play together — in how each instrument listens, breathes, and responds — the soul-stirring, spirit-settling debut is worth savoring from start to finish” (Atwood Magazine). Since 2015, Fox has released nine albums of original music and toured extensively across the country.
